To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with members of our team to find out why they chose the apprenticeship route, how it has made a difference to their career path and what advice they would give to others considering embarking on the journey. Here, we speak to Daryl Richards, a Key Account Manager who completed a Sales Executive Level 4 apprenticeship.

What made you take the leap to join the Sales Executive apprenticeship programme?

For me, an apprenticeship was my route to promotion. I had progressed steadily throughout my career but knew I needed a boost with formal training to prepare me for my next role. The Sales Executive apprenticeship was the perfect pathway. It helped me to learn new skills and techniques that have helped me to become the best sales consultant I can be - not only for the business but also for our customers.

How has your career benefitted from taking part in the apprenticeship programme?

The training provided me with a toolkit of new techniques that I now use in my day-to-day work. It helped me to drive incremental business and boost my profile internally. So much so that since completing the training, I have been promoted to Key Account Manager.

What advice would you like to share with those considering taking on an apprenticeship?

Continuous learning is key to success at any age or level. Don’t be scared to put yourself out there. Apprenticeships offer an opportunity to better yourself personally and professionally. They really are a worthwhile and valuable investment.
