Feel-good shades that can uplift any room

From invigorating brights to inspiring bolds, the Dulux Heritage Collection boasts plenty of uplifting colours. Here’s how you can make them work in your client’s home.

Rise and shine

Nothing raises a smile quite like opening the curtains in the morning to be greeted by glorious rays of sunshine. So why not suggest a sunny shade such as Butter Cup? Complemented by woodwork in Wiltshire White and a ceiling in DH White, the mid-yellow fills this south-facing space with light and positivity. Your client will love to sit and enjoy their morning coffee in this bright, colourful space.

Healthy obsession

If your client is after a space that feels refreshingly vibrant, tell them to go for green. Recalling the wonder of the natural world – lush rainforests, rolling meadows – it feels both invigorating and inspiring. For example, radiant DH Grass Green creates a feeling of wellbeing and vitality, and looks beautiful too. To up the feel-good factor, you could even suggest to your clients to add botanical prints and motifs, and accessorizing with oversized potted plants?

Banish the blues with...blue

Used correctly, blue doesn’t have to feel cold, it can be calming and soothing instead. Take Bright Skies™, Dulux Colour of the Year 2022, with its air of positivity. The key is to use soft shades such as Copenhagen Blue or Blue Ribbon in small accents, or deeper hues like DH Oxford Blue and Midnight Teal in large swathes. Better still, you could suggest tapping into the trend for purple-based blues and painting the walls in DH Indigo.

Tickled pink

Fun and carefree, pink is the perfect pick for spaces that don’t take themselves too seriously. So, it’s a good choice for either your client’s dressing room or a child’s playroom. Dark blossoms and corals can draw a space in, so suggest something lighter such as Potters Pink in a narrow area like a hallway. Then you could recommend offsetting the scheme with crisp and clean Wiltshire White. If your client doesn’t want their décor feeling too delicate, ground lighter colours with darker neutrals, such as sophisticated Pewter Plate. You’ll create them an entrance that provides the warmest of welcomes when they step through the door.

Get confident with red

There are many shades of red, and some can help to warm up spaces, while evoking feelings of optimism and confidence. Bold Pugin Red, for example, has real depth and drama, and creates a rich and sumptuous backdrop to the dark woods used in this home office. To balance its intensity without losing vibrancy, you could recommend softer neutrals like Romney Wall on the cabinet and Mallow White on the skirting and ceiling.

Not only does Dulux Heritage look beautiful, but it feels gorgeous under your fingertips, with its velvety matt finish for walls and an eggshell with a soft sheen for woodwork. Try it today by ordering a Colour Tester.
