One of the quickest and most effective ways to paint a room is by using an airless paint sprayer for interior walls. With a Graco sprayer, you can transform the look of any room in a fraction of the time it would take to paint it by hand with a roller or brush.
1. Preperation
Clear the room of as much furniture as possible. Any remaining pieces should be moved to the center and covered completely. Ensure there's ample space for your tools and equipment.
Protect surfaces you don't want painted. Use masking tape and protective paper around doors, windows, and trim.
Disconnect the room's electricity and remove cover plates from electrical fixtures, outlets, and switches. Take off heating and air conditioning vent covers. Mask any remaining switches and outlets.
Fill nail and screw holes with spackling compound and a putty knife. Sand any rough spots once dry.
2. Spraying interior walls
Choose the spray tip that best suits your paint and the surface you're spraying. Ensure the tip's hole size doesn't exceed your sprayer's maximum capacity (check your manual). If using paint from multiple containers, mix it in a 10-liter container to guarantee consistent color.
Begin painting at the top of the room and work downwards. Work in manageable sections. Start with the outer edges, "banding" the area you'll spray and cutting in corners. For inside corners, aim the spray tip directly into the corner to overlap both sides.
Cut in around windows and doors first. Then, spray the remaining flat areas using overlapping strokes. Make multiple spray passes down the walls, aiming the spray tip at the edge of the previous pass and overlapping by about 50%.
3. Finishing touches
Allow ample time for the paint to dry before removing the tape from your trim. This will ensure crisp, clean lines.
Remove all coverings from furniture and other areas.
Reinstall any removed lighting fixtures and return furniture or other items to their original places.
Clean your airless paint sprayer after each use. Follow the instructions in your user's manual for Power Flush cleaning with water-based materials or use the bucket method if applicable. Refer to your Sprayer Operation Manual for more details.
